I will from time to time, visit this page to express my honest opinion about
some  issues that are being intentionally misrepresented by some others.
Please feel free to e-mail your own thoughts about these issues to me. If I am
mistaken about something I will appreciate your help learning to correct my
ways.  Maybe you will benefit from something here.  This is not a blog, just a
B-log.

I have been an elected official now for over 13 years. Before that, I was a
Human Rights Commissioner for 12 years. The people who have elected me
and re-elected me for these 7 two-year terms have done so with a certain
amount of expectations.  They expect me to perform my duties to the best of
my abilities, be honest and fair and exemplary in my deportment. These are
reasonable and realistic expectations and I continue to direct my energies
toward them.
I have never ever been unduly influenced by any person or group when it comes to making a
decision regarding the public trust.  I make it a point to listen to as many opinions and sides as are
willing to express their opinion on an issue.  I find it unacceptable for someone, anyone, to state,
imply or otherwise attempt to say I am unduly influenced by anyone.  When a person makes a
financial contribution to support my candidacy, I promise in return only to listen. If they wish to
state an opinion on an issue, I will listen. I feel it is impolite to do otherwise.  It is not unreasonable
to promise someone that I will treat them with respect and listen to what they say. It is also not
wrong to be polite to people, even if they are impolite to you.  I have endured disrespectful
individuals who project their own insecurities by thinking I might react to a situation just as they
would.  I am not alone in this thinking, however I am steadfast.

I have the greatest gratitude for those who have supported me over the years.  I eagerly treat
everyone I encounter with respect.  I make it a point to treat people better than they expect to be
treated and often better than they deserve.

I cannot make others tell the truth in their communications with you. But let's be honest here.

The Rockville Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance contains good legislation.  It is a well intended
document but has one major flaw in my opinion.  Because the calculations for school capacity
differ between the county and the city, and the schools are administered by the county, I voted
against the APFO. The opportunity to create confusion and even cause moratorium which could
result in legal complications for the city is what made me vote against the APFO. I am not opposed
to the spirit of the APFO law, but I am opposed to some of the absolute letter of this law. I am one
who looks for cooperation and compromise.
